The Signs Of Your Times Part 2 “Desperate For Jesus”

The Signs of Your Times – Part 2

Desperate for Jesus?

John orients his gospel around _____________ miracles or “signs” that Jesus did during His ministry on earth.

John has a clear _______________ for recording the miracles that he records.

John 20:30-31

The Purpose of John’s Gospel

30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe[a] that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

It makes no sense to believe in the _______________ of Jesus without believing in the _______________ of Jesus.

John uses the word “signs” in describing these miracles because he understands the value of these miracles in ________________ us to _____________.

John 4:46-54

46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.

48 “Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”

49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”

50 “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”

The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”

53 Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household believed.

54 This was the second sign Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.

Some see significance in the ________________ of the nobleman and the _________________ involved in the miracle.

Could it be that the nobleman is a representation of human ________________ and ___________________? vs 48-50 Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”

49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”

50 “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”

Do we see in Jesus a desire to engage in our lives despite our own _____________________ about the real situation /problem?

The nobleman doesn’t appear to have any _________________ in Jesus as Messiah or even any ________________ for that belief.

Could this sign teach us that at times, ___________________ is more important than _____________ ?

Could this sign point us to a Jesus who is willing to have us come to Him even when we know very _________________ about Him?

Could this sign point us to a Jesus who is willing to have us come to Him for what we ____________ even when we don’t really know what we ______________?

If we remain ___________________ for and ___________________ on God, He will answer in ways that lead to belief in Him.

Jesus is not a ______________ in a _____________; but He is also not a _________________ in a ____________.
