Parenting Kids to Have a Faith that Sticks

The most important thing we can do as parents is lead our children to a _____________________________ through _______________________________…a faith that sticks.

Deuteronomy 6:4-6

                                                                     New International Version (NIV)

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.

 Attitude #1: ____________________

When you nurture within yourself a _________________________ for __________________ you greatly influence your children toward a faith that sticks.

  • Our love for God and his word needs to be ______________ if we want to influence our children to have a real growing faith.  This can’t be________.

  • Loving God with all your heart, soul, and might is not a __________ we work hard to get to but rather an ______________we embrace.

Deuteronomy 6:7-9

New International Version (NIV)

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates

Attitude #2: ___________________

An attitude of ________________ in teaching the truths about __________________ in the day to day life of your children has a huge influence on the likelihood that your children will have a faith that sticks.

  • Family Devotional Times:
  • Spontaneous ‘God’ Moments:
  • Spiritual habits and rituals:

Do not let the __________________ steal away things of _______________________.

Ephesians 6:1-4

New International Version (NIV)

6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.“Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”[a]

Fathers,[b] do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Attitude #3:  ________________

When you model an attitude of __________ in your home you influence in a huge way the development of a faith that sticks within your children.

  •                  We do this when we accept      our child _____________________, and always relate to them our _____________________      in, and __________________  as they      grow.
  • _______________ those not present and always _____________to speak ________________and __________________words about others.
