Angels from the Realms of Glory

Angels figure prominently in Christmas carols because they play important roles in the Christmas story. They announce the birth to Mary and Joseph and they announce the birth to the shepherds. They are the primary messengers of the birth of Jesus. Angels from the Realms of Glory is consistent with this idea. The first stanza reminds us that the same angels who sang creation’s story proclaim Messiah’s birth. This song then goes to the shepherds and then the sages and finally to each saint, every person who is born again into the kingdom of God, bringing worship to this baby, who in the fourth stanza, is pictured in His return. The end of each stanza features the words, “Come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ the newborn King”. I hope that worship is a part of your experience this Christmas season and every season of your life. Perhaps you could take a moment to reflect on what “worship” looks like in your life right now. Who or what do you “worship”? Is the worship of Jesus the center of your life?
