Who Exalts?

Psalm 75 is a psalm of thanksgiving. It speaks to the judgment of God and the idea of giving thanks for the wonderful works of God. Here is an interesting passage from verses 6-7: “For exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge:  He puts down one, And exalts another.” The Bible is pretty clear about God being the judge of mankind. Man is pretty good about setting himself up as judge. We tend to set up the criteria for judgment and then we judge AND pass the sentence. But the writer of this psalm reminds us that God is the only One who can judge. God will “put down one and exalt the other”. Peter writes that we should humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift us up. As we humble ourselves, as we submit to God’s activity in our lives, God will exalt us. God will give us what we deserve. I encourage you to allow God to exalt you and don’t look for the exaltation of man.
